I attended my first event as an author among potential readers this last weekend along with Tina Blenke and Kaje Harper. Tina did an amazing job of setting all this up and organizing it and a reader friend and her husband helped with all the physical hauling.
Up until now, I’ve only gone to writing workshops where all the other attendees were also authors. I love those things, because those people just got it. Or me.
It was the same way at Pride. I got to talk to readers and potential readers about all sorts of things.
I sold some books. I talked to other M/M Romance lovers. I met an artist who I’d love to commission for a cover. I got to know Tina, Kaje, and a reader friend, Kathie even better. We also had two tweens helping us draw people in by asking if they’d like to spin a wheel to win a prize. We gave away a lot of stuff.
Next year, I hope I can join these same authors at Twin Cities Pride along with even more Minnesota authors.
Right now there are a few giveaways/contests going on for the books in my North Star world.
- First, Mrs. Condit and Friends is giving away a copy of Flare. The deadline to enter is Feb 8th at 11pm CST. You can also read a review of Flare and an interview with Hugo, so click to comment and get entered.
- Second, Prism Book Alliance has a contest ending February 6th. I shared an outtake I wrote of Hugo and Kevin in high school that will never make it in to any of my books. If you click and comment, you can have a chance to win either Spark, Fusion, Flare, or the YA adaptation of Spark, Private Display of Affection by Winter Sandberg.
But there’s even more news! The Dreamspinner Press Group on Goodreads has two new threads. One is for Posy Roberts where you can ask me anything. The other is for the North Star Trilogy where anything about the books can be asked, including things that are spoilers, because there is a spoiler alert posted. I’d love the North Star thread to be a place to get to know readers better, so feel free to stop over and drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you!
I’ve also shared the two contests above on the M/M Romance group on Goodreads, so if you are a member of that group, feel free to pass the word along.
Thanks to all of you who have so freely shared my books and let people know that you’ve enjoyed them. Without you, this would never be happening. XOXO!
“I wanted to live in their world because through all the bad, they persevered and found the good, and it really is a series about the power of love. Outstanding series! One of the best by far.”
StraightNotNarrow: We all have an opinion, here’s mine…: Reviews for The Northstar Books, by Posy Roberts.
Flare was mentioned in USA Today! How great is that?
I’m also on Dreamspinner Press’s blog today talking about all sorts to things. Come interact with me. I’m asking all sorts of questions. One or two are bound to spark your interest. Not to mention, I’m talking about Hugo and Kevin. 😀 Happy day!
And of course, Flare was released today!
The full North Star Trilogy will be released in 36 hours when Flare is out. Have you read Spark? Is Fusion still burning in your mind?
You still have time!
Hugo and Kevin knew they should be together all the way back in high school, but life took them in very different directions. When they have a chance to continue their relationship, life’s circumstances have other plans for them. But they know they are meant to be, so they fight for each other, and they will fight for the family they want to nurture together, even if the world around them doesn’t quite understand their “alternative” family and tries their best to keep them apart.
In ten days, on January 13, 2014, Flare will be released. This is the third and final book in the North Star Trilogy, so if you’ve been waiting to read Spark and Fusion until Flare was out, now it your chance. They will both be 20% off through January 4th at Dreamspinner Press too!
Now, on to Flare. Anne Cain created another lovely cover and fully portrayed exactly what I wanted for this story. I told her I wanted green right away when we first started talking about all three covers, and we decided that the golden spiral should be a recurring theme in all three covers, which it was. So, what do you think? Scroll to read the blurb for Flare too. I now have a completed trilogy, and that makes me release a huge sigh of relief. Thank you for reading.
Hugo Thorson and Kevin Magnus are learning to live again after the death of Kevin’s wife, Erin. They’re doing everything they can to make a stable home for Kevin’s kids, but that stability is threatened when Kevin is served legal documents: Erin’s parents want custody of Brooke and Finn.
Meanwhile, Hugo is offered several acting jobs; to encourage him to take them, Kevin hires a nanny who is very hands-on with the kids. But Hugo feels distanced from his new family, so he makes the decision to leave his eclectic neighborhood and moves in with Kevin. He quickly finds he has a hard time fitting in with the suburbanites, and Kevin’s passive-aggressive “friends” make Hugo feel anything but welcome. Yet, he keeps his concerns a secret and tries to take it all in stride.
When Brooke is bullied about having two dads, Hugo realizes his mere presence might be doing more harm than good. The stress will force him to make a choice: does he stay and fight for the family he loves, or does he walk away to let them live in peace?
I can’t believe Fusion is going to be released in a matter of days. Days! November 18th, to be precise.
I’ll be hopping around to different sites over the next few weeks, but I wanted you to be able to easily find where. This is your one stop shopping. So buckle up. Let’s go have some fun!
