New Storefront & ARe Clean-up

In light of the news that All Romance Ebooks is closing their business in a few days, several authors have been seeking out new venues to sell their books. I decided to give a site called PayHip a shot, so I set up a storefront today for my self-published titles. I thought I’d give it a shot since they take PayPal, a payment method many readers love. Yesterday ARe’s website kept crashing, so readers trying to download their libraries were understandably frustrated. If you purchased one my books published by either Labyrinth Bound Press or Blanket Fort Press and were unable to download your files, email me a screen shot…

All Romance Ebooks is Closing

Friends, today I received news that ARe is closing on December 31st. I’ve had my books there since the beginning, those published by Dreamspinner Press and Harmony Ink as well as those self-published under Labyrinth Bound Press. The news came as a shock to the romance community, as ARe has been one of the staple stores where readers go to buy their books. I pulled all the Labyrinth Bound Press books from the site and Dreamspinner and Harmony Ink are doing so as well. Why are we pulling? ARe isn’t paying full royalties for the last quarter and has offered to pay only 10¢ on the dollar instead. If you’ve purchased…

Savory Subplots in Lighter Fare

I recently wrote a story with a main character in an enmeshed, codependent relationship with his best friend. Sounds like a meaty, angsty book, right? In fact, my story is lighthearted and playful, but it does have that serious subplot that hovers in the background.

We pick up books for entertainment, but those books can also make us think for days about what happened to those characters. And on the very rare occasion, those books have the power to change us.

Some of my books are very plotty. I know not everyone enjoys books with that much depth. So I write light-hearted fare as well. I still add psychological issues into the subplot of my lighter fiction.
